Barbara

Location: Missouri
Indication: Sacroiliac Joint Disruptions
iFuse Implant Procedure Date:
  • February, 2013 Left side

I have worked in the healthcare field since I was 17 years old because helping people and giving back gives me great joy.

Background

In the summer of 2012, Barbara was lifting a cooler at a family picnic and felt a sudden onset of pain in her lower back. She experienced tightness, tingling and numbness in her upper thigh, buttocks and hip. The pain immediately began disrupting Barbara’s sleep and her ability to sit for more than a few minutes at a time. Within two weeks, Barbara visited a pain doctor and was diagnosed with left SI joint disruptions and L4-L5 disc pain. Her doctor treated her with SI joint and lumbar injections from September to January 2013, which helped temporarily, but they became less effective over time.

Update

After Barbara’s iFuse Implant procedure was performed in February 2013, she reported noticeable improvement within two days following the surgery and began feeling like her normal self within three months. During Barbara’s recovery she used a walker and returned to work using crutches for a limited time. Today, Barbara is able to enjoy long car rides without pain and has returned to her daily activities.

This includes conditions whose symptoms began during pregnancy or in the peripartum period and have persisted postpartum for more than 6 months. It may not be appropriate for all patients and all patients may not benefit. For information about the risks, visit: www.si-bone.com/risks.
